Employee Spotlight: Kiren Latka

Kiren Latka has been part of the LinkSquad for over five years, which is a long time in start-up years. As our Director of Legal Engineering, Kiren oversees how we build strong, accurate, and valuable AI models for LinkSquares customers. She is an invaluable part of our organization with many interests and accomplishments, including an undergraduate degree in English Literature and a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

• What do you do at LinkSquares?

I’m responsible for two incredible teams within Legal Engineering. Aside from getting out of their way so they can do great work, I collaborate with senior leaders to establish strategic plans, objectives, and roadmaps around smart values and features. I also work with my Team on Smart Value development, restructuring, and accuracy.

• What does a typical day consist of for you?

Lots of Zoom meetings! Some days I work heavily on the development of smart values and custom smart values. On other days I am in more high-level meetings talking about strategy and product vision.

• What’s different about our Legal Engineering team?

We are unique in the CLM space. My Team consists of lawyers with dual degrees in data science and data analytics. We work collaboratively with Data Science to produce the Smart Values in the LinkSquares application. By working together, we create strong, accurate, and valuable AI Models for our customers. I have another team who are Subject Matter Experts in our Smart Values. They perform Audits on our Smart Values, annotate special internal projects, and assist with New Smart Value Development. Together, these two teams work with Data Science to create superior Smart Values and make sure that they keep getting better.

• You’ve been at LinkSquares for over 5 years. What have you enjoyed most about your time here, and what has made you want to stay for so long?
  

LinkSquares has the best people! I feel lucky to be able to work and learn from them every day. I have also thoroughly enjoyed learning and growing in the Legal AI Tech field. I never wanted to use my JD in a traditional way, and I believe that becoming a Legal Engineer was truly what I was meant to do! LinkSquares is more than just a company to me. I have worked tirelessly in order to see it grow into the organization it is today.

• What do you like to do in your free time?

I love spending time with my children, family, and friends. My family travels often, on day, weekend, and week-long trips. We enjoy exploring new places. I’m a huge bookworm and enjoy reading.
